The Asian Pastry Cup 2018 is a live event held in Singapore, with teams chefs by country competing demonstrating their skills. Each team creates one chocolate showpiece, one sugar showpiece, 18 plated desserts and 2 chocolate cakes withing an 8 hour time limit.

Tartlet Bakery is a customer of ours purchasing bakery ingredients. Rima thought to bring us a dozen tarts which she had prepared using some of our products. It is nice to see the end use of the ingredients we sell. With inspiration Rima transforms our products into beautiful and tempting creations.

Fine Food Fair 2016 in Melbourne was a successful and busy event for Apromo Trading. Our demonstrations were popular and well received. We were busy talking to the many people who visited our stand, and will continue to be busy in the weeks ahead following up with those asking about our products. Anecdotally this year seemed busier than last, which we are very pleased with.
Having outgrown our old inventory software, we are currently changing to new business software. This means changing the procedures of many of our daily activities.
We expect this to lead to many improvements in our systems in the long term, but first we have to endure the implementation. We hope to minimize any impact to our customers during this period. We were honoured to host chef Michel Eyckerman from Belcolade during March 2016. Michel fills the roles of Chocolate Centre Supervisor and of Technical Advisor Patisserie & Chocolate with Belcolade. He has previously won gold medals at Richmont Cup 2014, Les Pellons D’or 2013 and Fonds Arthur Troch 1998.

Bleu Blanc Rouge Festival is a French world festival, now into its third year. Held over the weekend close to Bastille day it celebrates French culture, activities, food and wine. Stephanie Leung has won the inaugural Apromo Trading Certificate 4 in Hospitality (Patisserie) Award for Academic Achievement in Patisserie. Nick Page (General Manager – Victoria) presented the award to Stephanie as part of Apromo Trading’s ongoing partnership programme with the William Angliss Institute. In addition to the bi-annual award Apromo Trading sponsors two WAI Certificate 3 graduates each year to undertake Certificate 4 studies who otherwise may not have progressed due to financial pressures.

Erich Dietrich from Lubeca in Germany will be visiting Apromo Trading in May at our Sydney head office. He will run a presentation on marzipan, with a demonstration of techniques, and there will be tastings. If you are interested in attending, please ask your sale rep.
Erich is an expert on marzipan. He is Head of Product Development with Lubecca.
We visited Pernigotti at the trade fair and viewed their new packaging. They certainly have put some design effort into their range. This enhances their classic products such as the Gianduiotti range.

We are off to Europe seeking new products to bring to Australia. Each year a few of us attend trade fairs in Europe and visit various suppliers.

ISM 2015 in Colonge, Germany we will view finished confectionery products, looking for new items for our retailers and monitoring trends.

Apromo Trading has announced it will sponsor two new annual scholarships, for two Stage 2 Non-Apprentice students continuing into Certificate IV Patisserie training at William Angliss Institute Melbourne campus. The sponsorship is worth up to $1000 each, to support patisserie students.
In announcing the scholarships, Nick Page (our General Manager Victoria) explained how proud and pleased Apromo Trading is to support new patisserie chefs and also to to continue to support the William Angliss Institute.
