Bleu Blanc Rouge Festival is a French world festival, now into its third year. Held over the weekend close to Bastille day it celebrates French culture, activities, food and wine. BBR takes over the open space at Circular Quay in the heart of Sydney’s central business district, and attracts 100,000+ visitors, many French speaking. For 2015 there is a particular emphasis on Belgium, Canada and Switzerland as well as France. For more info see: www.bbrfestival.com.au
Apromo Trading ran a stall in the Belgian section, promoting the product brands we import. We introduced attendees to the tastes of fine chocolate and other delicacies with free samples, and tempted many into buying more to take home. It was a friendly crowd milling past our stall so we all enjoyed the event.
Apromo Trading proudly sponsored famous chef Emmanuel Mollois to attend and run masterclass sessions on the Saturday and Sunday, which were so popular as to be sold out. Emmanuel demonstrated how to make Merveilleux, a traditional Belgian pastry. Of course we supplied ingredients and materials for his classes, including quality Belgian chocolate from Belcolade, chocolate decorations from Dobla, natural flavours from Jansen, almond paste from Lubecca, and disposable piping bags from One Way. Emmanuel signed copies of his book Patissier for keen fans and interested professionals.
